Parents Information May 2011

There are 4 exciting events in the immediate future.
1. The National Schools Regatta over the first weekend of half term. Once again we have hired a Marquee space, this time on the northern scoreboard side of the course, at the start end of the row. We very much hope that you can come and support us at this prestigious event – Friday the J14’s and WJ15’s race, Saturday the 1st VIII, 2nd IV, Girls senior IV, J16 and J15 VIII’s and on Sunday some of the 1st VIII, the J15 VIII and the WJ15 4 will double up in the smaller boat events. We very much hope that you will be able to bring food to allow a club wide picnic at the Marquee. Please co-ordinate with Sally Howard on sallyhoward@live.co.uk and 07515 534370.

2. The Boat Club Open Day on Sunday 5th June at the Boathouse. We will flash up the barbecue in time for a 12 noon start – while we provide some “mess hall” barbecue-able delights, but please feel free to bring your own. After a splendid repast – we hope that parents will get the urge to try rowing – with or without their children – and provide plentiful entertainment for all present. There will be a small charge for the mess hall food contribution.

3. The Boat Club Dinner on Friday 17th June in Mess Hall. Kate Hopkin has kindly taken up the reins regarding this event and will be asking for numbers shortly. A separate Email will be sent to all parents. Kate can be contacted on 07721 063980 or kate.hopkin@live.co.uk

4. Henley Royal Regatta (29th June – 3rd July) – we have booked the usual Gazebo slot in Butler’s field, and on Wednesday (29th June) we shall host a parents’ lunch at the gazebo. If any parents want tickets for the Stewards Enclosure, please be in touch as soon as possible, so we can order the tickets in good time – certainly by early June if Friday or Saturday tickets are required. 2011 is the 40th anniversary of the 1971 HRR win by the College, and the crew will be rowing over the course on the Saturday of the regatta.
