Brrr. Chilly day. Phil had delivered the trailer nice and early (as ever) and even wangled space for the Howard’s to deliver the girl’s pair on their roof too. The boys top 10 were to race the VIII in all 3 divisions (only a 1900m race) in various guises, with the aim of assessing the best combination. In the end they produced very similar times, but were pipped by Phil’s wife’s club crew from Marlow.
The girls had a very busy day, with the GB triallists racing the 7 singles in the first division – where Georgia Francis won WJ18 singles and Georgia Misson won WIM3 singles. In the middle division, the two Georgia’s won WJ18 doubles with only 2 senior doubles ahead of them, and Emily Howard had a good run in the pair with her GB partner Jordan Bruce from Bedford Girls School. In the last division, the VIII raced well, winning WIM3 VIII’s by 10 seconds, only 20 seconds behind the Oxford Blue boat.
