Pangbourne had a super Sunday at Marlow Regatta. After the white hot racing on the Saturday for the HRR bound crews over 2000m, there was a more relaxed feel to the Sunday racing over 1000m. With Veteran events galore, there was a variable standard! However the Girls rowing and boys sculling events had a good standard. Ben Maxwell raced and won in IM2 sculls, and George Pearce won IM3 sculls against closer opposition.
The Girls four were rowing in their last event before Women’s Henley. In their heat, they experimented with new tactics, and held the experienced Marlow senior four to a canvas. In the final, which turned out to be another two horse race with Marlow, Pangbourne attacked hard early on, grabbed a canvas lead which they hung onto for a very creditable win. Bragging rights in the Tinsley household going to Phil, with his wife Sally being the Captain of Marlow!
