Four of the College rowers entered this event, scheduled for the last Saturday of half term. In the 10am division, Ben Maxwell and George Pearce teamed up to win an exiting J18 doubles race, finishing 23rd overall. The weather deteriorated further for the second division at 12 noon, with the wind gusting over 20mph. Ben came second in the J18 single sculls event, just behind a Leander sculler, and very impressively 3rd overall of all the scullers, adults included. Luke Towers came 6th in the adult IM3 single sculls event. For the third division at 2pm, the wind increased even further, now gusting over 35mph, and rendering racing extremely challenging. George Pearce raced strongly to come 4th in his class, and 12th overall. Tegan Foister finished second in her class, agonisingly 6 seconds from winning, in a topsy turvy race, where the winner over took Tegan, only for Tegan to over take her and row away but just not enough to win.
The College’s attention now changes to Pangbourne Junior Sculls this coming Saturday the 9th.
