Burway Small Boats Head & Wallingford 4’s & 8’s Results

PCBC finishing the term on a high – winning all the events entered!

To finish off a hard term of training, both of the senior squads represented the College at two events; with the girls competing at Burway SBH and boys at Wallingford 4’s & 8’s.

Burway SBH – 7th December

Racing over a challenging course, which included a number of bends and multiple moored boats, the WJ17 quad dominated their event by nearly 2 minutes! Superbly steered by Nina Giambrone, the girls pulled away from all of their competitors as well as the WJ18’s and were the second fastest women’s crew of the day. A very impressive win from Nina, Alex Dunn, Elsie Rennie and Katie Giambrone.

With Elsie and Alex returning to Pangbourne to play hockey in the afternoon, it was the turn of the Giambrone girls to hold the fort. Racing in a WJ17 double, they carried on their winning streak from the morning to win by 18 seconds. Katie set a solid rhythm in the stroke seat with Nina once again expertly navigating the course, weaving in and out of the crews ahead. Well done to both, as well as multi-talented Elsie and Alex who won their hockey match!

Wallingford 4’s & 8’s – 8th December

With the girls setting the bar high on the Saturday it was the boys turn to deliver, and so they did! In contrast to the frosty flat water conditions the day before, the boys took the showery and windy weather in their stride winning the J18 coxed four event by 38 seconds. Steered brilliantly by Jack Rogers, congratulations to Callum Temple, Felix Lammers, Luke Towers and Rory Harris.
